Sunday, December 2, 2007, begins the season of preparation for the birth of Christ. The eighty-seven parishes of the diocese have imple­mented the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, the ancient rite of the early Church for conversions. Last year at the Rite of Election at the Cathedral forty-two parishes presented those who made the decision. We had two who were baptized. The call, of course, is by the Holy Spirit. The R.C.I.A. also encourages those baptized Catholics who have not received their First Eucharist and/or Confirmation to attend the sessions which begin this Sunday (12/2/07) after the homily of the 9:30 Mass.
